Featured Business of the Month – Bridal Sense

This month, we caught up with owner and bridal guru Nancy Culotta of ‘Bridal Sense’, located at 6600 Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs. Nancy’s been in the bridal business for over 2 decades and has been in this particular location for the last 16 years. Her mother owned a bridal shop in the late 80’s, early 90’s which is how she originally got into the business. After moving to Atlanta 30 years ago, helping to open a David’s Bridal, she decided to venture out on her own to offer more of a ’boutique-y’ buying experience.

Nancy’s goal was to offer beautiful wedding gowns & bridal party apparel at sensible prices. She had the idea to sell new and once-loved gowns to help brides save money and time. Over half of the dresses currently in her shop are unaltered samples that can be purchased off the rack, and half are new that can be custom ordered. She also offers accessories, belts, veils, capes, jackets and can dress an entire wedding party!


The most rewarding part of opening her bridal store has been helping brides de-stress and creating a comfortable atmosphere for them to shop. A friend once told her, “find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” and she’s always kept that thought at the forefront of her mind. Over the years, she’s managed to keep the honesty, integrity and high quality customer service intact from day one, with the help of her employees.

The most challenging parts about her business are the bridal tv shows and the internet providing ‘false’ information. Brides often times come into the shop with a knowledge base that she has to re-program, so they are aware of how dress shopping actually works. This is the biggest day of their lives, they have to enjoy the process and not get caught up in the details!

Nancy used to participate in bridal shows and take advantage of print magazines, way back when, however, since she’s built such a positive reputation for her business, most of her clientele come from word of mouth. She also credits her website, which provides live inventory, and social media for staying top of mind with brides. Technology has also put her into contact with brides across the globe seeking out their perfect dress. Nancy has helped a number of brides find their ‘diamond in the rough’.

Because of the international business the shop has encountered, Nancy and her employees have started pinning locations on a board so they can see just how many brides, in how many locations they’ve helped!
